Education Construction
Sordoni was the General Contractor for the expansion of the Bear Creek Charter School in Bear Creek Township. This $13.4 million dollar addition of more than 36,000 SF will boost the enrollment to 675 students, an increase of almost 400 students, and add a third section to each grade from K-8. The project received funding from both the US Department of Agriculture Rural Development and the US Department of Education. The school outgrew its original space and moved to this 307-acre campus in 2016.
The project consisted of the renovation of some select classrooms in the existing school, a new kitchen, a new classroom wing added to the building, the transformation of two existing classrooms into the new Community Room and Student Lounge, and the expansion of the existing school Cafeteria. Hemmler + Camayd Architects, along with the engineering firms of Greenman-Pederson and Reuther+Bowen, comprise the design team.
