Lehigh University Health, Science & Technology Building

Bethlehem, PA

Education Construction

Sordoni partnered with Turner Construction Company as a subcontractor for the concrete foundations and slabs for this 5-story, 190,000 SF Health, Science and Technology building for Lehigh University. The HST is the largest building on the Asa Packer campus. The constrained site required extensive logistics planning and coordination.

Sordoni’s portion of the work included the forming and pouring of the concrete for the foundations, slab-on-grade and slab-on-deck. The foundations consisted of 30 ft. high retaining walls and required a total of 6,737 cubic yards of concrete for both the foundations and footers. Slab-on-deck and miscellaneous concrete work totaled 5,332 cubic yards of concrete. Rebar totaled 838 tons. Extensive planning and coordination by our team with all of the MEP trades prior to the slab-on-deck was required. Two of the five floors were constructed as shell space to give the University the flexibility to fit out the space as programs expand.
