Healthcare Construction
Sordoni delivered the new 55,000 SF Geisinger Cancer Center in Dickson City as Design-Builder, completing the project in just 13 months to meet an aggressive First Patient deadline.
The facility includes 23 infusion bays, 17 exam rooms, multidisciplinary clinical space, and Geisinger’s first radiation oncology services in Lackawanna County—supported by a linear accelerator, PET CT, and CT Simulator. Additional features include a pharmacy, lab services, palliative medicine, a café, and a landscaped interior courtyard.
The project required major earthwork—187,000 cubic yards across a site with 900+ linear feet of underground mines—and rapid structural execution, including erecting 248 tons of steel in nine days and constructing a 2‑million‑pound LINAC vault with a 60,000‑pound shielded door. Five large rooftop units support the building’s specialized mechanical needs.
At peak, more than 140 tradespeople worked onsite daily, completing over 1,000 man-hours per day. Through focused coordination and a commitment to quality and safety, Sordoni delivered the new cancer center on schedule in June 2025.
