In the last quarter of 2017, employees donated $320 to the Children’s Service Center. This donation was fully funded by the employees through participation in our “Dress Down Days” events. Employees could wear jeans to work for a day if they donated $5 to the cause. Donations from the first quarter of 2018 are earmarked for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.

Clothing Drive
This April once again we will be conducting a clothing drive together with the Keystone Mission, a local homeless shelter with locations in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre area. Our drive started on April 5th and will run through April 27th. In-Office collection bins will be located by the employee entrance at the side of the building. In order to maximize our efforts from everyone on the Sordoni team, collection boxes were also provided at participating jobsite trailers.
Children’s book drive
Along with the clothing drive, Sordoni is participating in a children’s book drive to assist the United Way of Wyoming Valley with their efforts to encourage childhood reading. This is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. While the target age is preschool, we are happy to collect for any age up to and including young adult. Many preschool children have older siblings and the after school programs in the community can also benefit.
Our Community Garden
We are so excited to be planning our community garden. This year we will be planting peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans and eggplant along with an herb garden. We can’t wait to see what this season will bring and to share our harvest with various organizations including the St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen.
