Sordoni Volunteer Program

Sordoni Volunteer Program 500 333 Sordoni Construction

It has been a busy first quarter for the Sordoni Volunteer Program (SVP). The proceeds from our first quarter Dress Down Days were donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen. A total of $345 was raised through employee participation. The donations from April, May, and June will be earmarked for the Luzerne County SPCA.

Keystone Mission

In April we partnered with the Keystone Mission, a local homeless shelter with locations in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre Area. We collected specific items based on the Center’s needs such as men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s items along with blankets, sheets and towels. Janet Skibinski and Noreen Bertinelli delivered the items we collected and then spent a few hours at the Mission to help sort and pack food donations from the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Day of Caring

On May 17, Michelle Perry, Denise Cremard, Cathy Dombroski, and Maria Scappaticci participated in the United Way’s Day of Caring. The group lent a helping hand at Candy’s Place, a cancer wellness and resource center that provides support to cancer patients and their loved ones. The team spent the day cleaning the gymnasium and offices.

Our Garden

Our garden was planted on May 10th. This is one of our favorite summer projects! Our peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans and eggplant along with our herb garden are thriving. We just picked our first harvest of green beans which will be donated to  St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen.
