Lead Estimator - (DMV Market)
The Lead Estimator is a key member of the preconstruction team responsible for leading the estimating and preconstruction efforts for commercial construction projects throughout the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia) market and requires a highly experienced construction professional with a strong understanding of the local commercial construction market, established relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, developers, architects, consultants, and other industry stakeholders, and a proven track record of successfully pursuing and winning competitive projects.
Essential Functions
- Lead the preparation of accurate, competitive estimates, budgets, and proposals for commercial construction projects.
- Manage the estimating process from project pursuit through bid submission, including takeoffs, scope development, subcontractor solicitation, leveling, and pricing analysis.
- Leverage established DMV relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, owners, developers, architects, engineers, and other industry professionals to strengthen project pursuits and obtain competitive pricing.
- Utilize established industry relationships to strengthen subcontractor participation, improve project coverage, and identify new business opportunities.
- Evaluate potential projects and provide recommendations to executive leadership based on project fit, market conditions, resources, risk, and probability of success.
- Identify and mitigate estimating, scope, contractual, schedule, and financial risks during the preconstruction process.
- Develop conceptual estimates, GMPs, hard bids, negotiated estimates, and design-build budgets.
- Maintain and improve historical cost databases, subcontractor databases, unit pricing, labor productivity, and post-bid/project performance data.
- Monitor DMV market conditions, construction costs, subcontractor capacity, competitive activity, and upcoming commercial opportunities.
- Maintain and expand relationships with key subcontractors, clients, developers, architects, consultants, and industry partners.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, operations, business development, and design-build teams to support the Company’s growth and strategic objectives.
- Lead, coach, and mentor estimators and junior estimating team members by providing direction, technical guidance, and support.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement while sharing estimating best practices and industry knowledge to improve accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and overall team performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent construction experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 8–12 years of commercial construction estimating and preconstruction experience, with progressive responsibility in estimating roles. Significant experience estimating commercial construction projects in the DMV market.
- Established and demonstrated relationships within the DMV commercial construction market are strongly preferred and considered a key qualification for this position.
- Proven network of qualified subcontractors, suppliers, developers, owners, architects, engineers, and other commercial construction professionals throughout the DMV market.
- Strong understanding of local construction practices, subcontractor capabilities, labor conditions, material costs, and competitive market dynamics.
- Demonstrated experience with hard-bid, negotiated, GMP, design-build, and/or other commercial construction delivery methods.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, plans, specifications, scopes of work, contract requirements, and means and methods.
- Demonstrated ability to develop detailed estimates and conceptual budgets from incomplete or evolving design documents.
- Strong computer skills and experience with construction estimating and bid management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present estimates, budgets, assumptions, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership, clients, and project teams.

Site Superintendent
To support our ongoing growth and success, Sordoni Construction Services, Inc. is seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a Site Superintendent. This position is responsible for providing overall administration, management and technical direction for commercial construction ensuring the project is constructed safely and in accordance with contract documents, design, budget, schedule and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Qualifications
A thorough knowledge of construction techniques with the ability to sequence and coordinate the activities of other contractors on site through meetings and correspondence.
- The ability to understand and follow plans and specifications while controlling costs and adhering to progress schedules.
- The capacity to direct and order materials for self-performance work in the concrete and carpentry fields.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Job Requirements
- Responsible for the production and maintenance of project records including shop drawing logs, requests for information (RFIs), daily reports, time sheets, etc.
- Maintain a safe and organized office and jobsite
- Review of shop drawings and coordinate between project drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate contractor activities through verbal and written communication, including meetings and the use of project schedules.
- Responsible for all safety aspects on an assigned project including OSHA requirements, promoting and encouraging safe work practices and immediate correction of job site hazards.
- Maintain a high level of quality with contractors and our won workforce during construction.

Project Manager – Construction

Project Engineer – Construction

This position is responsible for supporting project management, field operations, and estimating departments by assisting with project schedules, submittals, requests for information, etc.
Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the success of Sordoni Construction through the following core job responsibilities:
- Prepare prime and subcontract change orders utilizing project management software
- Prepare project reports, including submittal logs, RFI logs, change request/change order logs, closeout reports, punch lists, post mortems, and other periodic reports
- Work with and provide support to the Project Manager in the total construction effort to ensure project is completed in accordance with project design, budget, and schedule
- Work with Estimator in bid solicitations and subsequent follow-up with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adequate scope coverage, including review of project constructability issues.
- Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, coordinating various phases of construction prevent delays, and estimating
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
- Promote and ensure compliance with established policies, rules and procedures and safety regulations
- Review and field-verify shop drawings and product data
Qualified Candidates Should Possess
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or other related construction experience is preferred
